Nothing quite says tropics like a coconut. As soon as we catch a hint of its refreshing, sweet and creamy taste we’re transported to crystal shores, white sand and rustling palms. When we heard we could capture that feeling in the comfort of our own home we only had one answer: yes please! This colada-inspired crush wins holiday-in-a-glass status courtesy of a dash of rum, a dose of pineapple juice and its authentic presentation – in a coconut of course!
"When it comes to the inspiring minds we want to know, our favorite fascinating figure of all time, our ultimate if-you-could-spend-an-evening-with-anyone attendee, has got to be Frida Kahlo. Her uncompromising and unusual life, work and style are filled with a spellbinding beauty and mystery. So the opportunity to spend a summer afternoon delving deeper into this icon’s history is to be savored. And what better way to savor poignant pages than with a sweet sipper? For a beverage befitting our larger-than-life subject, we created the spirited Painted Paloma—complete with personality, substance and colorful, captivating twists."
"The best thing about traveling with kiddos? The excitement in their eyes as they experience new parts of the world. That's why we were thrilled that model Arizona Muse brought her son Nikko along to Morocco for our May Journal shoot. Skipping together through winding backstreets and sipping mint tea in a land of spice and smoke, our lovely mother-son duo perfectly capture the wonder and beauty of travel."
"Is there anything more delightful than fresh-baked cookies? We think not. To help us with a bespoke batch, we brought on Ashley Rodriguez of Not Without Salt, whose signature Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies are the ultimate in crisp-edged, chewy-centered, salt-crunch-finished deliciousness. Upping the ante, Ashley concocted this skillet version, which we’ve humbly dubbed ‘the cookie to end all cookies.’ Top with ice cream and serve with several spoons and special someones."
"Every January, it dawns on us that winter is a choice. With one click of the book it button, we could easily slip away to a warm beach and an umbrella-capped cocktail, leaving frigid bluster behind. The one thing that gives us pause: What to pack? While life isn’t always about the destination, a 10-hour-plus flight across climate zones proves that, sometimes, it truly is. To pack an inspired suitcase, treat your port of call as the starting point, and pepper must-bring basics with accessories that match the mood of your locale."
"Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to show your sweetie some love, of course, but why stop there? This year, we’re extending special invitations to our other significant others: our ever-inspiring, advice-giving, laugh-a-minute girlfriends. To help us plan a Valentine’s brunch just for them, we enlisted lifestyle blogger Leah Bergman of Freutcake. From pink drinks to cheery place settings to from-the-heart French toast, Leah’s brunch is thoughtful, feminine and fun. To hear how she pulled it all together, plus her thoughts on good food and best friends, read on!"
